16 The supervisor as an evaluator and as an expert generates a hierarchical structure, which depends on the power over , therefore the creation of a learning alliance, with the encouragement of vulnerabilities and transparency directs the power towards empowering both actors of the supervisor-supervisee relationship. Changes of power and involvement in the relationship are described as role models. There is a relational tension in the exercise of the supervisor’s roles (monitoring, guidance, modelling, consultant and mentoring) because these roles sometimes require a firmer exercise and sometimes a more delicate one. From our practice as supervisors we found that in the group cohesion stage and at the beginning of the supervision relationship, supervisees need guidance, modelling and monitoring. Muller and Kell (1972) conceptualized the development, maturation, and termination of the supervision relationship, and other studies have examined changing communication patterns throughout the stages of supervisory relationship development [18]. In the construction and evolution of the supervision relationship, authenticity, empathy and unconditional acceptance are necessary. The supervisory relationship [2] has 3 development phases: - the development phase with: clarification of the relationship with the supervisor, establishment of the supervision contract, teaching interventions, development of skills, development of treatment plans; - the mature phase with: the development of the individual nature of the relationship, the development of social ties, the development of case conceptualization skills; developing self-confidence and the effectiveness of therapy and dealing with personal issues related to professional performance; - the terminal phase with: understanding the connection between theory and practice and decreasing the need for guidance from the supervisor. We consider that there is a correspondence between the development stages of a supervision group and the development phases of the supervision relationship. In other words: - the cohesion stage of the supervision group would overlap with the development phase of the supervision relationship; - the development stage of the supervision group would overlap with the mature phase of the supervision relationship; - the terminal stage of the supervision group would overlap with the terminal phase of the supervision relationship. According to the information mentioned so far we can say that: a. the cohesion stage of the supervision group is essential to establish the parameters of supervision with all that it entails: - getting to know the members of the supervision group; - presentation of the supervision duration, for how many years, frequency of meetings, duration of group supervision sessions;
